Reviews about Barefield Tailoring & Bridal
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆June 13, 2020, by Kimibev Alita***repost from the bride (I'm her maid of honor)*** I am so upset and frustrated! I recently bought my dress at Enchanted Bridal in Bakersfield. I was recommended by Enchanted Bridal to Debbie owner of "Barefield's Tailoring & Bridal Alterations" for further alterations that I needed for my dress. I HIGHLY ADVISE EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMER!!! I went in my for my fitting on 3/31/2017. Given a receipt of two alterations that needed to be completed, with a total amount of $85 for both alterations, and confirmation of a $40 deposit given. I was verbally promised that it would take approximately 2-weeks to complete. I had NOT heard from Debbie at all at this point. Debbie calls me on 6/9/2017, which is 3-weeks before my wedding, to admit that she made an error "Oh, I made a mistake on your receipt. It'll be an additional $120. I'm working on the dress right now, are you going to still want me to do it? I need to know now." At this point, I just want the dress back! I told her, "No, that was not what we agreed upon, please just finish what you've started and I want my dress back now." She continued with, "Oh I'll call you within a week." And we left it at that. I'm a very passive person, so stupidly I let it slide. I began to speak out about the incident with my sister and co-workers. They also became livid. Offering advise, one was to call Enchanted Bridal. So, I called Enchanted Bridal 6/15/2017 and just wanted to inform them what type of person they're recommending to customers. I was very uncomfortable with the whole situation and I needed help. Enchanted Bridal basically said "...here is another seamstress we can recommend (another referral, yaa... no thanks!) but we don't want to get in the middle of this." I also called Debbie today to get the status on my dress. She said she was busy all this week the earliest she can make an appointment for me to "pick up" my dress was Wednesday 6/21/2017 (a little over a week before my wedding). I had another co-worker call to ask to get the dress earlier... (bc Debbie wouldn't pick up my calls anymore) and was told no... We decided to take matters into our own hands. With the helpful push of Eva, Michelle and Angela. #GOONS Thank you ladies, from the bottom of my heart btw. We went to Debbie's place of business (which was her residence). The address was printed on her business card. Demanded just to "SEE THE DRESS AND PROGRESS..." She said we couldn't have the dress and that she needed to speak with Enchanted Bridal then instantly shut the door on us. We waited anywhere from 30-45 mins. outside. We called BPD. We were also in contact with Enchanted Bridal and they even said they haven't spoken with Debbie at all... We had to tell them that BPD is on their way, please just give us the dress. Finally Debbie agrees to give us the dress with the condition that Enchanted Bridal witness the whole exchange through FACETIME. Debbie refunds me the full $40 (because the owner of Enchanted Bridal told her too) and finally I am reunited with my bridal gown. I asked her, "What have you done to it?" Bc it looked untouched, the ONLY thing new on it was the little holes from the pins that provided guidelines for my supposedly alterations.... She told me, "Nothing." The dress was with her for a little over 2-months and she had NOT EVEN ALTERED A SINGLE THING!!!! We rush out of that scammers house with my dress in hand. So... if you've made it this far, wow. That was long but... it needed to be told. This is not the proper way to do business. It was handled very, very poorly. I'm ashamed that Enchanted Bridal did not provide any real assistance and I am so regretful for having to do business with either of them. And I will be reporting this to BBB.
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★November 21, 2019, by mrs truthI was on line yesterday looking for Barefield's phone number and stumbled on these reviews. Being a business owner myself I felt the need to to intervene. What the readers must be aware of is that social sites will allow anyone to post anything on Business Owners Site. And as we hear over and over they remove all the good reviews. I never understood that. So if it is true or not they will allow it to be posted. Who does that? You can read right between the lines on the reviews. Who is so mad to post a review after 20 years? Who does that? That review made my eyebrow go up. And the one that wrote the three page review over $40.00, why was that ever posted. I could not see the purpose, her dress got returned and her money back as I read, what is her beef? I believe the issue here is that she is trying to make this business look bad so people will detour from using them. Who does that? Very childish must I say. And last but least the one who complained about the business being dirty, really, it is so clean and always smell so good it puts me to shame. She lives in upscale community, probably double my house in price. And the part that the dress was cut to small, come on I overheard her speaking with a Bride while I was waiting that she does not cut anything until she gets a perfect fit, and said she still leaves material inside for safety measures. By the way Debbie is the BEST IN TOWN, she can do anything. Trust me your in super good hands with Debbie. Her prices are very fair compared to the quality of work she will deliver to you. Speaking for myself, I remember prior to using Barefield's I went to a alteration store withe initial S, (I don't want to bash her business, so out of respect I will only use the 1st initial of her business name) I ordered a custom wrap and had my $3,000.00 gown altered with her. I went to her site and found all these good reviews so I felt safe. I placed the order with her over 1 year prior to the wedding and played phone tag with her up to the night before the wedding. She totally destroyed my 3k gown. I had no choice but to wear it. So the morale of this story is don't go by all the hype reviews, get referred by a reputable store and run with it. When you know if a review is true or not, most Brides with common sense will never post their information on line unless they are just messy. They simply say never again, lesson learn ed and move on or settle it behind closed doors. Just saying.
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★June 28, 2019, by WCDI not receivedRESPONSE From Kimibev Alita's Review BELOW: (BEST FRIEND) At Barefield's we strive to please our customers, as our customer repeat business rate is at least 98%. It is always that one no matter what you do you cant please them. As i proceeded to do Maria's (The bride) fitting i suggested her to take in the bust and sides. I gave her the price and she became overwhelmed and said to me 'I can only afford to pay for the bust." We agreed, she gave me half down which was $40.00 . I had wrote on the invoice to take in sides and bust Due to be being busy that day, i forgot to cross out the sides on her invoice, as she said she was not going to pay for it. We both were aware that the alterations to be completed was only the bust, as she declined to have the sides completed. June is a very busy month as I see between 35 to 40 BRIDES in June alone. Must I say out of all of the Brides every last one of them were extremely happy with the results of their alterations on their dress. It is always that one that no matter what you do, you just can't please them. And it always people like Maria go on line and post bogus information about a business, when it was her that was totally at fault. I don't know what I could have done to make Maria Happy, as making Brides happy is my goal in my business. We both agreed to a pick up date, apparently that was not good for her, so the only solution was to return her dress in good condition and her full deposit of $40.00. I called Maria 4 weeks prior to her wedding to pick up her dress. We agreed for her to pick up on June 21st at 2:30 pm. It is not uncommon for Brides to pick up their dress 3 to 4 weeks prior to their wedding. I have seen them pick up their dress a week or even a day prior to the wedding. A few hours later Maria's Mom called and explained Maria was having some difficulty with her finance of 7 years and was on edge about the wedding. I told her Mother I totally understood . Maria arrived at my place of business several days prior to our agreed pick up date without notice. About 3:30 pm I heard someone at my door. I opened the door to find Maria and 2 of her friends from work. They Were Very Aggressive And I Was Concerned For My Safety! One female was very unprofessional and begin to try to force her way inside . I requested her to stay outside and told Maria the Bride to come in. Maria seemed to be very embarrassed of the outcome of the visit. She came in with her head down, I gave her the dress and returned her full deposit of $40.00. I am sure Maria realized she totally overreacted along with the other girls, and she was now worried who would fix her dress and what would be the cost, as I give Enchanted Brides a discount. We are sad to say that we are in the process of taking Maria and her friends to Civil Court per instructions from my Attorney for Defamation Of Charter and Slander! We really did hate to take this matter so little to court as it as caused my business a lot of unnecessary grief! We tried to resolve it but it has gotten out of hand. Now she has instructed her friends to post bogus review on us. Special note: Police never contacted me as this is a civil matter. Another lie from Maria. We love our Brides! If you are in need of a good Tailor, and really good Tailor that will go above and beyond to provide excellent service, please give us a call..............
